With your innate tendency to take care of everyone else, it’s easy for you to fall into the OVER-GIVER SYNDROME.
Since your intrinsic nature is to be empathic, your concern for the well-being of patients, colleagues or your family makes it even more difficult for you to set clear boundaries, and take time to stop, relax, unwind and recharge.
But… the way through the Over-Giver Syndrome is to know that paying attention to your own well-being is as critical as anything you do for your patients.
When you recognize that self-care is the fuel that keeps your light shining, it becomes so much easier to cope with high levels of pressure and stress. When you thrive you give from a space of replenishment, and it’s sustainable.
That’s why I created The Thriving Giver online course, to help you develop simple, lasting practices to navigate pressure with greater ease, while also nurturing your mind, body and spirit. Then, you bring a calm, confident and joyful presence to your life and work.
You can see how the ‘ovary’ of the flower (Your Inner Radar and Empowering Beliefs) lay the foundation for freeing yourself from the Over-Giver Syndrome and developing greater self-awareness to prevent burnout. Without this ‘base’, the petals cannot emerge.
The five petals of the flower comprise a comprehensive range of powerful strategies to master stress and replenish your energy, empowering you to become a Thriving Giver.
You will be guided through these 7 Thriving Giver Principles and their powerful tools so that by the end of this transformational course, you will experience:
Embracing the 7 Thriving Giver Principles in your daily life will help you replenish your energy, restore motivation and discover how to thrive at home and work
Ironically, earlier in my life as a hypnotherapist, I helped so many clients master stress and balance their lives, but… I failed to practice what I preached.
As a single mother and sole provider for three boys from when they were 4, 6 and 8 years old, I found it hard to juggle work and family responsibilities.
I felt like I was giving, giving, giving….to my family, to my clients, to anyone who needed me.
The onset of burnout was insidious. It crept up on me. I became more and more exhausted – mentally, emotionally and physically. My passion and enthusiasm for work dissipated and I started to dread seeing clients. Instead of feeling empathy and compassion, I became hardened and numb.
The voice in my head kept saying, “I can’t do this anymore. I have nothing left to give.”
My wake-up call came when 6 clients canceled their appointments in one day.
Fortunately, my youngest son was leaving home at that time, so I was able to take a 3-month sabbatical.
Crewing on a sailing boat in the Caribbean gave me ample time to recharge and reflect, and then backpacking around Peru helped heal my body, mind and spirit.
On my return, I carried out extensive research on burnout which revealed the importance of overcoming the Over-Giver Syndrome, as well as developing a comprehensive range of tools to manage stress and optimize wellbeing.
Like so many health professionals, I had to learn to balance my own needs with the care of others, and I now embrace the value of self-care to ensure that my giving is sustainable.
So, I’ve been walking my talk for many years. As an author, lecturer, trainer and resilience coach, I have over 10 years of experience in teaching the 7 Thriving Giver Principles to nursing and medical students, doctors and other health care professionals.
I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and expertise and welcome the opportunity to help you replenish your energy and rekindle the love for your life and work so that you can share a balanced and joyful presence with others.
Keep on Thriving,
Sarah Kuipers

The order of modules has been chosen carefully, and will be the most helpful for the majority of people taking the course, although it’s important to trust yourself when you choose which module to explore next.
